The association
History
More than forty years helping people who fear flying, in Geneva.

- 1980
Lucienne Skopek in Geneva
Lucienne Skopek, an American specialist in linguistics and communication, herself affected by fear of flying, sets up a course in Geneva after taking a course with Slim Cummings in New York.
- Early years
From long-term follow-up to intensive course
Classes over several weeks, then an intensive 3½-day course at Geneva Airport. CTA support, then growing involvement from Swissair.
- 1995
Fabienne Regard & coaching
After her doctorate, Fabienne takes over from Lucienne Skopek and shapes the course around coaching: alumni accompany new participants.
- 2001
SWISS, Geneva Airport, Skyguide
Geneva Airport, SWISS and Skyguide become partners of the course. The newsletter and alumni activities become a signature of the programme.
- 2020
The alumni association
The association of former participants is formalised.
- Since 2020
Training SWISS flight attendants
Since 2020, we train about twenty flight attendants from the SWISS Geneva base each year on managing fear of flying, as part of a partnership. They take part in the courses, learn from participants what fear means, discover our toolkit and share their love of this exciting profession.
- 2023
All activities under the Association
All activities are offered within the framework of the Association.
- 2020–2024
Public-interest recognition
From 2020 to 2024, the association was recognised as a public-interest organisation.
What has not changed
- Living in the airport to soak up its atmosphere
- Getting all the technical answers from a SWISS captain
- Visiting different types of aircraft on the ground
- Acquiring fear-management tools usable in flight
- Flying at the end of the course with coaches (former participants)
- Follow-up: newsletter, WhatsApp by group, private forum
